After graduating from the University of Leeds, Alex started his career in structural engineering with a graduate role at a small consultancy based in and working throughout West Yorkshire. While in this role for approximately three years, Alex worked closely with a small team and engineers and technicians, focusing on developing his experience and skills in a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, and residential. He was an important part of a team able to deliver structural designs and high-quality drawings from the smallest residential project to large developments upwards of £10 million project cost.
Alex then moved to Alan Wood & Partners, working in the York office. He continued to gain significant experience leading designs and projects from the smallest residential alterations to large complex residential development projects and everything in between! Alex also has significant experience producing engineered solutions for projects involving the renovation and maintenance of existing buildings of all ages and construction techniques, including developments where conservation considerations where required.
Alex most enjoys working on the more unusual and tricky projects and developing and managing economical and practical design solutions. He is experienced in all aspects of the design process, from feasibility and concept design stages to co-ordination and design development all the way through to construction stage support.
Alex is currently close to achieving chartership with the ICE and is currently preparing to apply for his professional review.
Away from the office Alex enjoys running, cooking for his partner and friends, watching live music and listening to podcasts.
