What We Do
What is a Structural Engineer?
A Structural Engineer is essentially the other side of the same coin to an Architect. Whilst an Architect deals with (amongst many other things) the aesthetics of a building or structure and how it will be used on a day-to-day basis, Structural Engineers apply the mathematics and physics to these buildings and structures to ensure that they are appropriately sized and stable to perform the function for which they are intended. One of the key aspects of the Structural Engineers job is to look at the overall stability of the structure from both gravity (i.e. vertically) applied forces as well as lateral forces (i.e. wind) taking into careful consideration how each part of the structure is connected to the other, how the loads are transferred and the anticipated local and global deflections.
We offer practical structural design and detailing for a wide variety of projects. This includes (but is not limited to):
- New build residential, commercial, educational, and industrial properties
- Alterations and extensions to existing residential, commercial, educational, and industrial properties
- Load assessments of existing structures
- Specification of required remedial works
- Structural foundations design (sizing, layouts, structural build up and depths)
- Retaining walls (concrete, masonry, gabions, precast)
- New steel / concrete / masonry / timber structures
- Extensions and alterations to existing steel / concrete / masonry / timber structures
