Ian began his career in 1985 after completing an ONC and HNC at Stockport College. He spent many years working as a structural CAD technician on many different types of projects but specialising predominantly in structural steelwork and reinforced concrete detailing. During this time, he worked for many national engineering firms, notably as a senior CAD technician for Design Group Partnership in Manchester for around 4 years, as a senior CAD technician for ROC Consulting for around 2 years and for Sinclair Knight Merz (now part of the Jacobs Engineering Group) for nearly a decade.
As the industry began to develop and change and head towards a BIM Level 2 environment (a more fluid designing and detailing process using co-ordinated 3D models from conception through to completion, shared between all consultants, contractors and end users involved in the design), Ian adapted and became a BIM Technician. He joined TSP Projects in the Manchester office in 2010, working there until 2021; it was during this time that he and Jack met and formed both a friendship and a collaborative working relationship. Ian now works as a freelance BIM Technician and has been undertaking projects for JME Consultants on an ad-hoc basis since 2020. Ian is a highly experienced user of AutoCAD, CADS-RC and Revit.
In his spare time Ian can often be found at Old Trafford cheering on his favourite football team (Manchester United) and spending quality time with his wife and young daughter.
